a homemade christmas - cute table setting idea

I had a little play this morning with some ideas to decorate our Christmas lunch! Homemade finishing touches at Christmas time are as sweet as my Granny's chocolate pudding. In just one short craft-ernoon you can whip up some decorations that will make your table pretty special and not cost you many dollars!

I hope you enjoy this little bit of inspiration and make your Christmas a homemade one. If you want some more DIY inspiration to keep you busy over summer make sure you check out this post - it's one of my favourites.

Read on for where I found my items!

• I wanted something natural so the calico tablecloth was perfect - and it's only $4/metre (120cm wide) at Spotlight

• I made some confetti using a hole punch and last year's old Christmas gift wrapping! It was gold with tiny white spots so it looked super cute and celebratory scattered all over the table.

• I bought a heap of mis-matched cutlery from the local op shop and tied a set together with twine.

• The hessian placemat is super easy to make and only $4.45/metre from Bunnings.

• Fairylights give some sparkle to the table and these pretty ones were from Freedom for $29.95.

• The scalloped white plate was a cute find at IKEA for $4.99ea (you might recognise these from my Christmas in Colour post!)

• The fabric napkin is another Spotlight find - this was only $10/metre and I loved the summery colours.

• The plate was finished with a little 'Ho Ho Ho!' message that I printed at home on brown card and secured with a little wooden peg. I went for a generic message rather than name cards as that would have been a little too formal for our Christmas lunch! Pegs were $9.95 for a pack of 30 from Typo

My favourite DIYs for summer!

DIY Leather Plant Hanger as seen on Design*Sponge.
So easy and I've been wanting a plant hanger that's not daggy!

Say hello to some crafty projects that will fill your summer with homemade goodness! I love a good DIY idea and my favourite blogs are filled with little gems. I started to stockpile more ideas than my pencils and I could handle! And I just wanted to share this beautiful bunch with you.

They are all so creative yet simple and best of all you can tailor them to suit your individual style. You can get the look of a designer item and all it will cost you is a small amount of dollars and perhaps a new manicure.

I think it's perfect timing with Christmas approaching to get your craft on and gift your loved ones some homemade loveliness. So have your sticky tape at the ready and read on! I have a link for each project that you can click through for further how-to know-how, and while you're there check out all the other inspirational ideas on these blogs!

I hope you enjoy these. I will be sure to post any attempts I make at these projects!

DIY Ideas as featured on Design*Sponge, RealLiving Magazine, Elizabeth Anne Designs, Oh Hello Friend, Style Safai and A Beautiful Mess. Make sure you click around while you're visiting these amazing sites!

DIY Block-printed Chevron Fabric as seen on Design*Sponge.
I love the imperfections of the print - it looks so organic and natural. You could play with different shapes and colours too.

DIY Tape Stencil Stationery as seen on Design*Sponge.
You could make a great collection of Christmas cards and gift tags with this idea.

DIY Tape Sponge Lamp as seen on Design*Sponge.
Very clever idea! I would be inclined to ditch the lamp though, I like it as an ornament of it's own.

DIY Plaster Coaster and Paint-Dipped Servers as seen in RealLiving Magazine.
I have already started this project! I am making my own plaster coasters... The plaster has set I just need to sand and paint them - I'm thinking different shades of pastel colours though the stark white is nice.

DIY Wooden Candle Holders as seen in RealLiving Magazine.
Might get Nick to help me with this one - I'm a bit hopeless with a saw!

DIY Hammered Spoon Placecards as seen on Elizabeth Anne Designs.
How fancy does this look - and so easy! Might save this idea for a special dinner party.

DIY Summer in a Bag as seen on Oh Hello Friend.
What a cute Christmas gift idea! You could do any themed bag... perhaps some homemade cookies and tea for a friend?

DIY Simple Polka Dots as seen on Oh Hello Friend.
More gift bags! I love this simple polka-dot DIY - I could imagine putting spots all over my brown wrapping paper as well!

DIY Summer Succulent Garden as seen on Oh Hello Friend.
This is so fun! I am doing this!!!

DIY Frame Tray as seen on Style Safari.
This is something you could probably whip up with items already in your house! You could frame a piece of your favourite fabric, some dried leaves or anything pretty in your home.

DIY Canvas Print at home as seen on A Beautiful Mess.
I can't believe this is the first I've heard of this? You can transfer a photo to canvas (or fabric) at home. I love the distressed look it creates.

DIY Foam Stamp as seen on A Beautiful Mess.
So simple and cute! This would be a great project that kids could get involved in too.

curator of lovely things: christmas in colour

I love a good Aussie Christmas! There is nothing better than gathering with family and friends over a chaotic smorgasbord of eclectic and delicious homemade dishes. A day that generally consists of going from the airconditioning to the pool then back again to finish off the festivities with a piece of pavlova and a nap.

In a toast to our summery southern-hemisphere Christmas I have gathered some colourful styling goodies that aren't covered in snowflakes and Santas - items that are fun and would look great all year round. Pops of red, green, yellow and turquoise can be dressed up with metallic pieces.

I have also included some cute DIY printable cards which you can download and print for free, (No8!) scroll down for the link!

Hope you enjoy, Kimmy

PS If you make the cards please email me a pic! kimmy@whitewiththree.com.au

shop love: scout house

Welcome to Scout House - the beautiful little store that calls me inside every time I'm strolling around St Kilda. At first glance you may assume it is a quirky antique store but look closer and you'll see a heavenly mix of old and new items that are full of whimsy and character.

This beautifully curated store is the work of owner Orlando Mesiti who opened Scout House two years ago. He expressed his inspiration for authentic everyday objects, Australian design, reclaiming and reusing, handmade and craft. "Home is so important to me."

Scout House is a treasure trove of new and antique furniture, ornaments, cushions, textiles and art. When sourcing items for Scout House, Orlando explains there are no rules. "I like authentic makers, original products, timber and ceramic. Beautiful authentic textiles. Quality. Anti mass production." In three words Orlando describes Scout House as rustic, eclectic and original. This passion for authenticity and originality means there is something special about every item.

So whether you are strolling around St Kilda or have to tram it from the north side - Scout House is definitely worth a visit. You can find them at 125 Grey Street, St Kilda. If you don't live in Melbourne don't despair, you can forage through all their lovely pieces and buy online at www.scouthouse.com.au

I hope you enjoy this store as much as I do

a3 artwork now online

This is "Pieces of Autumn" from the Fragments range in A3 size.

This one is "Surface of the Lake" also in A3.

Yay my family of art is growing with the A3 size being added to the collection! The A3 artworks were uploaded to my White with Three Etsy Store a few days ago due to many enquiries requesting bigger sizes. I have already sold five and have had a request for an A2! So I've been busy reformatting my art and hope to have a fresh bunch of A2 artworks to upload sometime this week.

These two babies were my first A3 orders. I sealed them safely in a tube and they have been shipped off to their new home. To check out my new A3 designs visit my store here.

Kimmy

The A3 artworks packaged and ready to ship!

This 'Lots of Sleepy Dachshunds' A4 print was purchased with custom colour 'Silk Green' - also shipped out last week.

And this 'Dachshund Sleep Study' A4 print has been selling hot! Last week I shipped one to Finland and one to Texas!
