What I see: Cartagena, Colombia

A vibrant and beautiful city that is exactly what I pictured 'Colombia' to be. The old town was a maze of cobblestone streets lined with rendered, concrete walls and beautiful doors of contrasting colours. And the history is amazing. A very touristy yet friendly place I'd love to visit again...

What I see: Santa Marta, Colombia

Santa Marta - the place where the locals go to holiday. What a refreshing change to Bogota. This tiny town is on the north coast of Colombia overlooks the beautiful Caribbean ocean. It wasn't swamped with tourists so it's quite 'undiscovered' and quiet. The sun was boiling hot, the water was ice cold and the accommodation was luxurious and cheap. Beautiful.

What I see: Bogota, Colombia

Bogota, Colombia - a city that scared me. It had the most amazing street art contrasting with angry vandalism on every surface. There was a colourful vibrant fruit market but everywhere else we were met with an unwelcome glare. I won't be rushing back there! But it's all part of the adventure...

The Fernando Botero museum was fantastic...
